CREEDD
is one of five centers for oral health disparities nationwide. Information
exchange and collaboration among the five oral health disparities centeres
has been an integral part of building a loose network nationwide to
research oral health disparities in different populations as well as
developing innovative strategies to address the needs of underserved
groups of people.
The
focus of CREEDD is to evaluate and eliminate dental disparities among
children since underserved children and children living in poverty continues
to be an ever-expanding segment of our society. Through collaboration
with other institutions the Boston area, Washington, D. C., and Cleveland,
Ohio, we have sought to combine the resources of a variety of collaborating
institutions to form the backbone of CREEDD.
CREEDD
represents a strong coalition between the formidable resources of Boston
University and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
Additional support for various projects has been provided by the Delta
Dental Foundation of Massachusetts, the Boston Public Health Commission,
and several small organizations that have made a commitment toward improving
the oral health of children in their communities.
