Research

The purpose of CREEDD is to integrate research of dental disparities into programs designed to reduce these disparities. The primary focus of CREEDD is the reduction of dental caries in children in populations that are otherwise underserved. We have developed a series of innovative programs that include both intervention by dental professionals as well as education and training of other health professionals, such as pediatricians, in the education of parents about the oral health of their children. By reaching out to these underserved populations through community action, primary health care providers, and through programs in the public schools, the long-range goal of CREEDD is to bring about a significant reduction in the development of dental caries among underserved children, and thus, to improve the oral and overall health of these children.

CREEDD Major Research Projects
  • Oral Health-related Quality of Life in Children and Adolescents

  • Microbiota of Children with Oral Health Disparities

  • The Effect of Severe Early Childhood Caries and Comprehensive Dental Intervention on Weight of Children

  • Decreasing Rates of Early Childhood Caries Through a Health Care Provider Intervention
